Job Description

Digital Marketing Executive

Working arrangement: Hybrid

Location: West Midlands

ABOUT ATHENEA

Athenea represents the next chapter for Brayleys Cars and Johnsons Cars, bringing two established automotive businesses together under one Group identity.

Our Group comprises around 2,000 colleagues, more than 20 automotive brands and almost 80 sales operations across the UK. Our portfolio includes some of the world's most recognised manufacturers, giving Athenea significant scale and a diverse presence across the automotive market.

As we come together as one Group, our ambition is to build an automotive retail business recognised for the quality of its experience, for our customers, our manufacturer partners and our people.

Premium, for us, isn't simply about the brands we represent. It's about the standard we set across every interaction.

We're investing in that next chapter, including a new Group website and digital ecosystem. For someone joining our Digital team, it's an opportunity to be part of that transformation and help shape how Athenea presents itself digitally.

THE ROLE

We're looking for a Digital Marketing Executive to join our Group Digital team in a hands-on, hybrid role supporting the delivery and performance of our digital marketing activity.

You'll work closely with the wider Marketing team, as well as colleagues across Sales, Aftersales and other areas of the business, helping bring campaigns, commercial priorities and customer initiatives to life across our websites and digital channels.

A big part of the role is getting things done. From uploading offers and building pages to supporting campaigns, testing customer journeys and troubleshooting issues, you'll help keep our digital presence accurate, compliant and performing effectively.

But we're equally interested in someone who looks beyond the task itself. Someone who spots when something isn't working, is curious enough to investigate why and wants to help make it better.

We're a small team with a broad remit, so being a team player really matters. You'll need to be comfortable getting involved across different areas of digital, supporting colleagues with shared priorities, providing cover when needed and taking initiative when challenges arise.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Website & Digital Experience

  • Manage day-to-day website updates, ensuring content, offers and campaigns remain accurate, current and compliant.
  • Build and maintain campaign, brand, location, offer and landing pages, alongside banners and promotional content.
  • Support the launch of new brands, locations and website functionality.
  • Carry out regular website checks across content, stock, forms, links and customer journeys.
  • Support website merchandising, CRO activity and improvements to customer experience and conversion.

Campaign & Cross-Functional Support

  • Work closely with Marketing, Sales, Aftersales and wider business teams to support Group, manufacturer, brand and tactical campaigns and initiatives.
  • Translate campaign and business requirements into digital activity across websites, landing pages, email and other relevant channels.
  • Coordinate content, assets and deadlines to ensure activity is delivered accurately and on time.
  • Support email communications and other digital campaign activity where required.
  • Ensure activity meets relevant brand, manufacturer and regulatory requirements.
  • Bring digital best practice and ideas into wider business activity to help improve effectiveness.

Performance, SEO & Optimisation

  • Monitor website traffic, engagement, conversions and customer journeys using GA4, Google Search Console and other relevant platforms.
  • Support regular digital reporting and the development and maintenance of Group performance dashboards.
  • Contribute observations, ideas and feedback on website performance and customer journeys, supporting the wider team's optimisation activity.
  • Support day-to-day SEO activity, content updates and improvements to organic search visibility.
  • Assist with SEO migration and content checks as we transition to the new Group website.
  • Develop an understanding of AEO, AI-driven search and emerging digital best practice.
  • Support website testing and CRO improvements, helping check that changes are working as intended.

Digital Operations, Testing & Troubleshooting

  • Help investigate website, stock, pricing, imagery, feed and other digital issues, working with colleagues and suppliers to support resolution.
  • Support testing of website functionality, platform updates and integrations.
  • Support testing of customer enquiry journeys through to showroom and lead management systems, helping identify and report any issues with lead receipt or routing.
  • Work with agencies and technology partners to investigate issues, test fixes and follow through on resolutions.
  • Support monitoring of third-party platforms and digital customer reviews in line with agreed processes.
  • Build an understanding of how our digital platforms and systems connect, helping identify issues and opportunities for improvement.

Skills & Experience

We're looking for someone with an interest in digital marketing, a willingness to learn and a practical, hands-on approach. Some experience in a digital marketing, website or content-related role would be useful, but we're equally interested in someone with the right attitude and potential to develop.

  • A basic understanding of digital marketing and how websites support customer journeys.
  • Comfortable using digital platforms, working with content and learning new systems.
  • Good attention to detail, organisation and communication skills.
  • Confidence working with data, spreadsheets and everyday digital tools.
  • An interest in areas such as SEO, analytics, website experience and emerging digital technology.

Personal Attributes & Approach

We're looking for someone who's organised, self-motivated and takes pride in getting things right. You'll be a genuine team player, happy to support colleagues across shared priorities, including providing cover when needed.

You'll be proactive, comfortable troubleshooting digital issues and willing to take ownership, ask questions and help find solutions. A natural curiosity for digital, an interest in emerging trends and a willingness to learn and share ideas are equally important.

What Success Looks Like

You'll deliver accurate, timely digital activity, support colleagues and help maintain high standards across our websites and customer journeys.

You'll look beyond completing tasks, taking an interest in how our digital activity performs and contributing ideas to help us continually improve.
