The role
We are looking for a senior executive leader to join us as Director of Services, leading our national portfolio of health, wellbeing, rehabilitation, psychological and crisis services.
This is a key leadership role with responsibility for ensuring services are safe, effective and consistently delivered to a high standard across the UK. You will lead the ongoing development and transformation of integrated services across prevention, early intervention, recovery and long-term wellbeing. This includes inpatient, outpatient, community, digital and 24/7 crisis pathways. Working closely with the Chief Executive and Senior Leadership Team, you will help shape organisational strategy and ensure our services continue to evolve in line with national policy, best practice and the needs of the fire and rescue community. You will also hold senior responsibility for governance, safeguarding, risk, workforce and performance across all services.
Key responsibilities
As Director of Services, you will:
• Lead the delivery of Fire Fighters Charity’s national health, wellbeing, rehabilitation, psychological and crisis services
• Ensure services are safe, effective, person-centred and focused on improving outcomes
• Oversee clinical governance, safeguarding, risk and organisational learning across all services
• Drive service transformation, including redesign of pathways and development of digital, remote and hybrid models of care
• Oversee national 24/7 crisis services, ensuring safe and effective triage, escalation and support for people in acute distress
• Lead workforce strategy and culture across a diverse multi-disciplinary workforce, ensuring capability, resilience and high-quality practice
• Ensure services are trauma-informed, recovery-focused and aligned with national guidance and best practice
• Lead performance, quality and outcomes frameworks to support improvement, assurance and decision-making
• Build strong partnerships with NHS organisations, Fire and Rescue Services and voluntary sector partners
• Act as a senior advisor to the Chief Executive and Board on service performance, risk, workforce and strategy
About you
You will be an experienced senior leader with a strong track record of delivering at executive or director level within complex health, care, rehabilitation or wellbeing systems.
You will bring:
• Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary, multi-service portfolios
• Strong expertise in service transformation and system leadership
• Significant experience of governance, safeguarding and risk management at scale
• Experience of leading or influencing crisis or high-risk services
• Strong understanding of integrated care, rehabilitation and trauma-informed practice
• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills across NHS, emergency services and system partners
• A collaborative, values-driven and emotionally intelligent leadership style.

Additional information
• This role may require participation in an on-call rota for senior clinical escalation
• Regular national travel is required
• Enhanced safeguarding checks will be undertaken prior to appointment
