Job Description

Company Overview:

Brayleys Cars and Johnsons are two industry-leading motor retail groups currently undergoing a significant integration process. Together, we form a dynamic and forward-thinking automotive dealer network operating across the UK.

As part of our continued growth and transformation, we are excited to offer a rare and exceptional opportunity for an Automotive IT Field Engineer to join our Group IT team. The role will be available across multiple locations, with positions offered across the North, Midlands, and South regions.

Job Summary:

As an Automotive IT Field Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting and maintaining IT systems across 30+ dealership sites, ensuring automotive-specific technologies are effectively integrated with our core IT infrastructure. This hands-on role requires experience with dealership management systems, vehicle diagnostic platforms, networking, end-user computing, and connectivity solutions used within an automotive retail environment. You will work closely with the Group IT team to deliver secure, reliable, and efficient IT services that keep our business running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-site and remote IT support for dealership systems, including hardware, software, and network troubleshooting.
  • Support and maintain automotive-specific IT systems, including Dealer Management Systems (DMS), OEM diagnostic platforms, and connected vehicle technologies.
  • Manage IT Helpdesk tickets, ensuring timely resolution and excellent customer service.
  • Install, configure, and maintain IT infrastructure, including:
    • Networking: TCP/IP, WAN, WLAN, SD-WAN
    • Operating Systems: Windows 10/11, Apple iOS, Android
    • Cloud Services: Microsoft 365, Intune, Exchange, SharePoint, Azure AD
  • Assist with the integration of OEM systems, telephony, and in-dealership Wi-Fi solutions.
  • Work with dealership teams to understand operational needs and deliver IT solutions that improve efficiency and user experience.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system changes, configurations, and support activities.
  • Escalate complex issues to IT Management or third-party vendors when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with IT security policies and support the implementation of cybersecurity best practices.
  • Stay up to date with emerging automotive IT technologies and trends.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • IT-related degree or equivalent IT experience (2–3 years in IT support).
  • Proven experience in automotive IT environments, including DMS platforms such as Keyloop, RTC/ CitNOW or similar systems.
  • Familiarity with franchise-specific automotive IT systems and OEM platforms.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, Cisco, Fortinet) desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of IT networks, hardware, and software.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites as required.
