Contract: Permanent & Full Time

Hours of work: Monday – Friday, 9am to 5pm (Hybrid)

Ballymena Causeway Credit Union is a not-for-profit, member owned, financial institution. Established in 1967, we have grown to 16,500 members, with total assets of over £43 million and a loan book of over £21 million.  Our team has also grown to 25 staff members over our two offices in Ballymena and Coleraine.  Due to an internal promotion, we are now seeking to appoint a suitably qualified professional person as our new Risk and Compliance Manager. 

The Role

Working closely with colleagues, the successful candidate will oversee the maintenance of the Credit Union’s Risk and Compliance Framework across all locations, while also being responsible for the management of and ensuring full compliance with all legislative, regulatory and policy and procedural requirements.

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following Essential Criteria:

  • A Level Five (or higher) qualification in Law, Risk & Compliance, Audit, Accountancy, Economics, or Finance AND 2 years’ experience or
  • 5 years’ experience in Law, Risk, Compliance, or Audit/Accountancy within the financial services industry, gained within the last 8 years.
  • Knowledge of the laws, rules and regulations governing Credit Unions
  • Knowledge of the risks facing Credit Unions
  • Training delivery experience
  • Confident and effective at advising and briefing at all levels, including senior stakeholders
  • Excellent computer literacy, experienced in all aspects of Microsoft Office.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Certificate in Credit Union Risk & Compliance
  • Staff management experience
  • Previous experience working within a Credit Union
  • A knowledge and understanding of the regulatory environment governing credit unions.
