Scotch Quarter Practice - Carrickfergus

Salary: £18,500 (Band 2)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Scotch Quarter Practice are looking for a Medical Receptionist to join their busy team.

The Person

The ideal candidate will be warm, friendly, and approachable and have a reassuring smile whilst providing good patient support for every patient who enters or calls the surgery. They must adhere to strict confidentiality polices and absolute discretion with regards to patients and colleagues.  You will be interacting with people from every walk of life you must be a good communicator and an excellent team player.

The Role

  • Dealing with general queries and requests by phone or in person, efficiently and accurately
  • Ensure that emergency calls are passed immediately to the duty doctor or another doctor if duty doctor is not available
  • Supporting the clinical team and handling their requests
  • A variety of other admin activities that could be reasonably expected of a medical receptionist
  • As a Doctors Surgery, it is inevitable you should be comfortable in reassuring and dealing with anxious, concerned and often unwell patients
  • Delivering the best customer service needs flexibility and you will be expected to share covering for your team members as they will also cover for you to allow us to maintain the levels of service our patients expect

What we look for in your application:

Essential Criteria

  • 3 GCSE’s at grade C (or equivalent) or above to include Maths and English or proven experience of working in a similar Customer Service environment gained within the last 5 years
  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office software, email and the internet – experience using Vision clinical system will be an advantage
  • Proven history of learning and adhering to policies and processes
  • The ability to work to deadlines, work in a fast-paced environment with an attention to detail
  • A natural eagerness to do the ordinary things … extraordinarily well.

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous Medical Receptionist experience
