Team Context

Our Technology team here in Belfast has expanded rapidly during the last 2 years; in addition to our Pega and Mobile Engineering Teams, we have built teams that are delivering solutions using the latest Cloud Data, Cognitive Engineering, DevOps, and Web platforms. Our engineering teams are working on disruptive solutions to solve complex problems faced by the insurance industry. The teams will deliver in different product areas, such as proposal generation, claims, customer service, agent sales & service, and they will all create intelligent solutions using DevOps practices, cloud technologies and modern platforms.

We currently operate three Engineering Practices: Web & Mobile, Cloud Data, and Pega. Within these practices we aim to provide the highest levels of quality and engineering techniques. The successful will candidate be placed in a key Pega Platform team where they will be responsible for ensuring high quality solutions are produced while applying the best test mindset and test automation principles.

Role Context

We want QA Engineers who are passionate about high quality outcomes for the customer and can put the end-user at the centre of their thinking.  As part of our Agile teams, we will provide you with the opportunity to use the latest technology to serve our customers and sales agents and apply your skills as part of an exciting new team. The ideal candidate will know the right way to apply test strategies to ensure the highest data quality possible.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-end testing of web applications and APIs
  • Provide best practice, shift-left coaching to developers to promote defensive coding habits
  • Lead example mapping sessions to help build complete picture of user story requirements
  • Contribute to creation and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines

Skills and experience

Below is an overview of the skills and experience we are looking for, but remember, don’t rule yourself out if you don’t have everything on the list – it’s your intellect and your attitude we are really after.

Essential

  • 3+ years of software testing experience
  • Experience with targeted test automation strategies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well within a team environment, maximising the different strengths across the team
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a Computer Science, Engineering, or STEM subject. Comparable commercial experience will also be considered
  • Key technology experience required for the role: any test automation tools, but we mostly use Robot Framework with either Selenium or Playwright
  • Commercial experience of agile testing processes and the DevOps lifecycle

Desirable

  • Experience with different types of Agile project delivery
  • Experience of implementing security standards that meet privacy requirements for web/portal/mobile applications
  • Other valuable technologies: Robot Framework, GIT, REST-based API, object-oriented concepts
