Hotel Chocolat has built a strong position as the UK’s favourite premium chocolate brand, and we’re now expanding into new product categories, new sales channels and new markets in the USA, Japan and beyond!

To support our ambitious growth plans we have an exciting new opportunity for an Editorial and Content Manager to join our Marketing team. This is a permanent opportunity and includes:

  • Flexible location – 1 day a week based at our Head Office in Royston, Hertfordshire & the remaining time either spent at home or in the office at your choosing

As Editorial and Content Manager you will be responsible for leading the brand content strategy, plan and hands-on execution to deliver the brand narrative and reposition us as a lifestyle brand, both self-generating content and using external creators, such as influencers or talent. You will be able to write and create long form editorial content (e.g. brand stories, interviews, articles etc) as well as commission video content to support. You will also lead the collaborations, commissions and co-creation of content with external talent. As our brand guardian, you will own the Brand Book and run brand/tone of voice development and review sessions.

SHOW US HOW ITS DONE

  • Lead the overall content strategy and develop a multichannel content plan, working closely with channels (especially acquisition, digital and organic social) to ensure content that is created is amplified and activated to deliver comms goals.
  • Identify opportunities for unique content to differentiate our brand grounded in our core values of authenticity, originality and ethics.
  • Responsible for prioritising, producing and publishing content, writing, editing, and proofreading, as well as creating video content.
  • Curate and write articles and long form content for use in owned and earned channels, telling our compelling stories through content.
  • Responsible for co-creating (with other teams and our Founder) and writing our in-house magazines and customer newsletters.
  • Define the approach for working for external talent /partners/celebs inc. influencers to meet the brand goals. Identify and liaise with relevant talent (possibly via an agency), negotiating rates for content, and ensuring the relevant agreements are in place. Co-create content with these parties and ensure a plan is agreed to maximise content coverage and KPIs.
  • Define and measure KPIs for content to inform optimisation and maximise its usage across channels.
  • Act as brand guardian owning the Hotel Chocolat Brand Book, aligning brand tone of voice across all internally produced comms and external content creation (e.g. influencers)

WHO YOU ARE & WHAT YOU HAVE

Essential

  • Strong writing skills to tell stories, especially long form like articles
  • Experience in publishing/content PR
  • Experience in co-creating content with influencers/talent and running talent programmes with external content creators
  • Demonstrable content experience across written and digital formats

Desirable

  • Experience in measuring the success of content
  • Managing brand guardianship working across multiple teams to ensure brand consistency
  • Previous experience developing content for a premium household brand
  • Contract and fee negotiations with influencers
