As Workgrid grows, we have an increasing need for an Engineering Manager to join the team who will lead, empower, develop and grow our UK based Engineering teams. This role will also be pivotal in helping to build a culture that will ultimately deliver the Workgrid vision.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Engineering Vision: Deliver on the engineering vision to create high-performing software development teams. Understand industry trends in software development and where Workgrid should be headed.
  • Team Development: Defines team member objectives, performance targets and development plans and ensures alignment with project and organization objectives.
  • Team Morale and Climate: Ensure the engineering organization is empowered, excited, and growing in their careers.
  • Coaching and Mentorship: Work with UK based engineering teams to build and grow their capabilities, skills, and identify opportunities for engineers to develop their careers at Workgrid.
  • Hiring & Recruiting: Work with senior leadership to develop hiring, interview, and recruitment plans to build a pipeline of talented software engineers. Opportunity to attend external events to promote Workgrid technical brand.
  • Collaboration: Represent your engineering teams across the Workgrid organization. In this role, you will collaborate frequently with our product management team.
  • Architecture / Scalability / Performance: Work with UK based engineering teams to ensure we have a highly scalable and performant platform across the globe. Ensures system, technical, and product architectures are aligned with business objectives.
  • Security: Work with our security architects and engineers to ensure security is at the forefront of everything we do.
  • Quality: Develop strategies to ensure software quality practices are consistently embedded across each of our engineering teams. You promote high standards in quality.
  • Technical Operations: At Workgrid, our product engineering teams follow a ‘you build it, you own it’ mindset. You would be responsible for ensuring that operations has the same focus as development and work with engineering teams to develop HPE metrics.
  • Business Operations: Work with senior leadership to build Workgrid Belfast Hub and manage administration for the team e.g. office management, expenses, travel, annual leave.

Qualifications

  • You have a minimum of 3 years’ recent experience in a leadership role within a technical team.
  • You are an experienced technical leader who has a proven record coaching and growing engineering capabilities.
  • You’ve been responsible for leading engineering teams, supporting enterprise platforms at scale.
  • You foster a collaborative, inclusive teams in which people are empowered to do the best of their careers.
  • You have experience working in a fast-moving agile environment.
  • You are a compelling and clear communicator, able to represent and communicate your message across technical and non-technical teams.
  • The drive to work in a fast-moving technology startup.
  • An eagerness to learn and grow.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with cloud engineering / operations.
  • Experience working with quality / test automation engineers.
  • Experience working with enterprise integrations.
