What you’ll do:

We are offering an exciting opportunity to join our award-winning company through a Post Office Apprenticeship Scheme. Whilst being given the opportunity to complete a comprehensive training programme, including working towards achieving a recognised Apprenticeship qualification, you will work and train in one of our retail outlets, alongside the very best people in our Post Office Branches to develop the skills required to become a Post Office Clerk.   Whilst training you’ll also be earning- with a competitive training rate of pay plus employee benefits & discount scheme.   

Post Office Clerks have a key role within our retail operations in assisting with the daily running of the Post Office, which will include the handling and balancing of cash, counter service and administration- they contribute to maximising sales and profit, controlling losses, and continually seeking to improve the service we deliver to our customers. 

What areas does the apprenticeship cover?

  • In-House training to include:
    • Knowing the products and services we offer in Post Office
    • Delivering excellent standards to our customers
    • Post Office performance and active selling
  • Apprenticeship programme including:
    • Knowledge and competence in the financial services environment
    • Offering services such as banking, insurance, payments etc.
    • Supporting customers and resolving customer problems
    • Promoting products and services

What’s the duration?

  • We expect the Apprenticeship to start in October 2019 and last for 1 year. The speed at which you progress is up to you!

What do I need to apply?

You’ll be aged between 16-24 (at time of application) and no longer in full-time education. Ideally you should have GCSE English and Maths (Grades A-C) but if not, we’ll help you gain Essential Skills with your Financial Services qualification.

Please note that an Access NI check will be required and therefore proof of identification will be required.

You should also have the following:

  • Great communication skills
  • Attention to detail & accuracy of work
  • Good numeracy skills
  • Excellent team-working ability
  • Ability to multi-task and work well in a fast-paced environment, flexibility in working hours

Training provided:

  • Level 2 Award in Providing Financial Services (QCF)
  • Essential Skills in Maths and English (if required)
  • Post Office E-Learning programme & Post Office on the job training
  • Opportunities to progress into Management related-roles
